It is tidy and modern, it feels more like Switzerland with its red-roofed houses, blooming flower beds and beautiful parks, all kept impeccably tidy. We will journey deep through the middle Atlas mountains to Azrou; a Berber town with magnificent views of cedar and pine forests. Here, you will be able to see and hand-feed Barbary Macaque Monkeys living in Cedar Forest, the largest forest in Morocco. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant in Midelt (the Apple city). We will then continue along the lush Ziz Valley, one of the best Morocco’s desert-like landscape with thousands of palm and olive trees surrounding fortified villages , stopping for panoramic views along the way. Arriving in Merzouga around 3 pm. You will take an hour break to relax or enjoy a swim before you ride camels and venture into the beautiful Erg Chebbi, enjoying wonderful views of the sunset over the dunes. You will notice how the color of the dunes changes as the afternoon sun descends. Overnight in your Sahara desert camp includes dinner with Berber drums live show.

Rissani is surrounded by 360 ksar (a fortified village with many towers) and has a big souk (an open market), held three times a week. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans, coming from Timbuctou in Mali. Here you’ll walk through the souk, selling spices, vegetables and cloths. Drive back to the village of Merzouga. On the afternoon, you will mount your camel, guided by an experienced camel man to explore within the sand-sea of Merzouga.
